Avoiding a single program to eat up all ressources

When using X-terminals, almost every program the user runs is on the server. If one of those programs go bersek, everybody will feel it immediately.

To avoid it, the Auto Nice Daemon is a very useful tool as it will renice (lowering the priority) such programs and so minimize the impact for other people. If needed, it can even kill them.

You will probably want to customize it a bit for the applications you use in your setup. Most such configurations are done in file /etc/and.priorities.
